Beatty's Chocolate Cake

I almost forgot I made the chocolate cake!! Oops. Okay, this cake was some trouble. But every 'from scratch' cake is trouble. And this one at least turned out as expected. My confession - I didn't make fresh coffee as the recipe called for. I just used the leftovers from that morning. Is that gross?
I didn't put the parchment rings in my pans. And, of course, I regretted that. I had to put the bottom back on the cake. Seriously. But fortunately, that has no impact on the taste of the cake. It was crazy moist, and very yummy.
And the icing - oh my heavens. I think we should keep this icing on hand at every moment....because let's face it....there is such a thing as a chocolate emergency...and this will satiate it. I now *need* this icing. I've made l o t s of different chocolate icings looking for a good one. I'll be stopping the hunt for now. My husband and JJH did not think it was the best cake ever....but they loved the icing.
A little note. There is caffeine in this cake. And wow....you'll know it after you eat it. And thus, use caution when feeding it to your kiddos.
